How can I determine which files on my computer are corrupt? What about those posing as regular files?

My computer is running very slow and acting unusual. Hubby admitted to visiting some sex sites on the 'net. Any advice on how i can best verify and delete the files would be much appreciated. I have NIS 2007 and AD-Aware SE but they didnt do much to prevent or identify the files/corruption. Recently got PCTools' Spyware Doctor and Registry Mechanic and they seem to helping some.
